On behalf of all our faculty, staff and students, I would like to welcome you to the Civil Engineering Department at the Sri Venkateswara institute of science and technology!
As head of the department, I am extremely proud of our role in providing high quality education and hands-on experience to our students. Right from its inception in 2009, Civil Engineering Department of SVIST  has earned tremendous reputation for qualitative teaching-learning process,  state-of-the-art laboratories and well qualified faculty; positively contributing to the community through teaching, research and consultancy activities. With a well-planned mission and untiring efforts from our highly committed faculty.

Our department is constantly working towards improving the all-round skill development of our students through organizing guest lectures, seminars, workshops, conferences and career service events facilitated by national and international experts.., our department is all poised to achieve its goals while contributing for the betterment of our community.

. Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

 

The Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) of the department program in tune with the Vision and Mission of the department are:

 

PEO1              To prepare the graduates fit for employment in Civil Engineering related jobs in Government and Private sectors and also to enable them pursue higher studies in the Civil Engineering related specializations.

 

PEO2              Enable the graduates develop core competence in the field of civil Engineering.

 

PEO3              To make the graduates attain the ability to apply the concepts of Civil engineering to practical and field problems.

PEO4              To help the graduates acquire professional knowledge, practice professional values and develop themselves into useful Civil Engineering professionals.

 

PEO5  : To facilitate the graduates nurture interest in relating the concepts of Civil Engineering to the society and environment, solve the problem, facing the challenge in the form of new problems and learning new things.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

Engineering Graduates will be able to:

PSO 1: Apply the fundamental knowledge of Civil Engineering to simple & complex problems related to all sub-disciplines.

 PSO 2: Analyze, design and develop Civil Engineering Structures with due consideration for environment safety and sustainability.

PSO 3: Take up professional and social responsibilities relevant to Civil Engineering practices & norms.

9. Program offered

The department offers four year Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) program (comprising of eight semesters) in civil engineering. The curriculum of B. Tech program comprises of core courses, department elective courses, seminars, laboratory experiments and projects. The program offers sufficient flexibility so that the students can undertake various elective courses that provide exposure in various specializations in civil engineering, such as structural engineering, Water resources engineering, Transportation engineering, Geotechnical engineering and  Environmental engineering .

Lab Details

The department infrastructure and laboratory are being upgraded to facilitate students’ learning skills like problem solving, creative thinking and experience integrated design of the systems, open ended experiments, mini projects and course projects.
